Reviews of Beehive Smyrna

There is no way anyone can honestly say this is place deserves 5 stars, at least the memory care part.Heard today that for Easter, the building only had enough of a food budget for residents to receive a fried bologna sandwich with chips. They are regularly fed this kind of food and can scrape by because those people barely remember what/when they eat.As expensive as is it for residents to live there, why is the for budget so tight? I went to a public elementary school in the west end and was fed better than that.Just because people are dying relatively soon doesn't mean they don't deserve proper nutrition. That's only part of the issue, but I disgress.read more

Beehive homes of Symrna is by far the best assisted living I have ever been to. The love and care the staff provide is wonderful. Amazing home cooked meals, and multiple daily activities. Beautiful rooms with a home setting. If I could give this place 100 stars I would. I HIGHLY recommend this home. It’s a true definition of a family.read more

What a blessing. When our father had a stroke years ago our family's life was changed forever. At first he was easily manageable at home, and he enjoyed being at home. He continued to have small mini strokes though, which caused a progressive dementia. About 3 years ago it became obvious that we would need to find a more safeenvironment for him. Luckily we found The Beehive of Smyrna, which is right down the road from where all of his children grew up and where he and our mother have lived for over 50 years. The Beehive has been such a blessing. The facility is clean, modern, welcoming and has a family atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and caring towards the residents. I think my father gained a few pounds at first because he loved the food so much. He always seemed happy, and he was always well cared for. Of course it is a secured facility, but they provided us with a unique idfor entry, and we could enter at any time and find the place exactly as mentioned above. When we visit, there are nice sitting areas to sit quietly away from other residents or there are some common areas we can sit with everyone. On weekends they have activities for the residents such as entertainers and DJs, and my Dad always seemed to enjoythese as well. During holidays they would have special holiday events. Also, my father is a Korean War Veteran, and they arranged for him to have a special military certificate and afterwards the staff had all in attendance to stand up and sing the Star Spangled Banner. It was a special moment. His dementia eventually progressed to thepoint that it became too difficult for the staff to care for him there and we needed to find a higher level facility for his safety. When that time came, they even helped us with that transition as well. After we left the facility, I would get texts asking how our father was doing and letting us know how much they miss him.Obviously, I highly recommend the Beehive of Smyrna, it felt like a home away from home for our Dad that deserved it and needed it at that time.read more
