My mom lived there for over 3 years, initially it was great, but gradually kept going down hill, before we left the food3 was hardly edible and if her appartment got cleaned3 once a month we were lucky. The last straw was the entire building became infested with bed bugs and the company was in no hurry to do anything about it. Could not get my mom out of there fast enough. We left on Oct 2021read more

I posted a positive review over 3 years ago & because of things I've heard in the last few years I'm retracting it because Google won't let me delete it. So to clarify, I have not been around in the last 3 years but I still know people (residents & former staff). I would've liked to delete all together but it wasn't an option.read more

My 95 year old Grandmother has lived at Oxmoor Lodge for nearly 3 years. In that time, everything but the name has changed. It has been sold, is on it's 3rd manager, and there seems to be a revolving door for the rest of the staff as well. Which doesn't give much of a sense of security. The building is nicely maintained for the most part, and they have several activities that my Grandmother enjoys. The biggest problem seems to be the food. Since staffing is a major issue, preparing and serving meals is a constant struggle. Even when half of the employees haven't quit, or called in sick, the food is subpar. This is according to my Grandmother who is fairly independent, and walks down to the dinning room for all 3 meals a day.Frankly, if it were up to me she would move. I've offered to do whatever needs to be done to get her into a place where she would feel more comfortable, and she chooses to give this place chance after chance. There are worse retirement communities I'm sure, but I'm sure that there are also better.UPDATE: 3 Months ago, (2 months after writing my initial review) my Grandmother finally decided to move. No one had cleaned her room in months, and the last time it was vacuumed she said it was because she had to bribe, or, "tip" one of the cleaning staff to do it. The final straw was when someone stole her pain medication. As evidence of how this place is run, the, "owner" finally responded to my review 2 weeks ago. They state in their response that a manger could be spoken to with issues in regards to the food. The funny thing is, Oxmoor Lodge currently doesn't have a manager overseeing anything at this time. Unfortunately, that is because he passed a few weeks before someone responded to my review, and the position still hasn't been filled.I've included a picture of my Grandmother's toilet, taken the day we moved her out. The elderly people in your life deserve better than this.read more

My Mom used to live there. They jacked her rent 14% after the first year and were not very nice to talk to about that problem. Some of the staff is wonderful and kind (thank you Derrick) Mom wasn't a huge fan of the food, but it's a business on a budget that had an unenviable job of trying to please people that have cooked for themselves for decades, so a bit of a pass there. I wish the managers position had been filled with a more people type person, but that person is no longer there. All in all its a nice enough facility and gets a solid B- grade.read more

My dad James Kummer lived there from 3/16 until his passing on 3/17. It was like pulling teeth to get him into a facility but I finally put my foot down after another hospital visit and made it happen. He really did enjoy his time there and the friends he made of both staff, caregivers and residents. He was borderline of independent living and maybe needed assisted living but with the addition of a caregiver for certain days we made it work. He really thought he was private person but found out he enjoyed the company of many during lunch, supper and activities. The staff was first rate by all means. My dad lived frugally all his life and his postal retirement pension was enough to cover his small studio apartment. I miss him and wish I could still see him there but I have good memories of him there.read more

Stopped in to pick up a friend of mine who needed a ride to Church. Looks like a well-maintained and quite comfortable place to live. Certainly a top-notch location.

Our loved one has lived at Oxmoor Lodge for many years. It is a lovely place with wonderful management who go out of their way to make residents feel a part of the community. Almost every time we visit, there is some type of entertainment in the atrium and plenty of parking. Also, Oxmoor Lodge is conveniently located in St. Matthews with a nice woodsy area in the back for bird-watching or taking a stroll.read more
