Reviews of Symphony at Valley Farms

If i could give negative stars, thats where I would rate Symphony at Valley Farms! We moved my mother in law in 48hrs ago and she has already fallen twice! Her falls happened at night ..we were not told that they only have 1 night nurse & 2 aids.. the night nurse told us she rounds every hour and the aids round every 2 hours! My MIL's room is right next to the nurses station. How can a memory care facility function safely with 1 nurse at night? This is beyond ridiculous! My husband and myself are beyond mad ..we have reached out to the director who has yet to return our call!! Do not believe the hyped info that the staff gives you. It was extremely expensive to get her moved here and the amount of money we are paying for horrible care at night is just that ..HORRIBLE!!!read more

They have weekly entertainment, she loves the music. The people that work there have become like my family. They truly love mom (even when she’s difficult). I am so the thankful for all of them!Thank you Symphony you are truly the best in my book. 😀read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. The people that work at Symphony at Valley Farms have become our extended family. The care Dad receives is exceptional, thorough and loving. Recently my Aunt needed a place to live that has Personal Care. It was relief to find out Symphony had a room. Three meals a day ( Dad loves the breakfast), 24 hour nursing, in house PT & OT, activities and beautiful surroundings make Symphony a great HOME.read more

We needed a place for my husband's Mother to live once she could no longer take care of herself. We were introduced to Symphony at Valley Farms, and Brandy who was the admissions and placement person in May/early June in 2022. Mom is living in the memory care area because she needs reminders. Brandy is a lovely lady, and has done every thing she can to make this transition as easy as possible. She is now the Executive Director, a position I feel she deserved and is perfectly qualified for. She gives it her all. She has made us feel like family. She gladly handles any problems I bring to her.Did my Mother n Law like it? Absolutely not! However, she has come to look at Symphony as her home. She has an awesome CNA that looks after her daily. She loves Mom dearly and I believe Mom loves her back. From the time, we have been there, I do look at things and see where they don't have enough help. I don't believe it's because of anything the Director, Nursing, or anyone else does. Corporate needs to allow more employees to come on, and pay a living wage. From experience, those jobs are hard and unthankful. Thank you everyone for your assistance, and being willing to care for those clients that keep you so busy on your shifts. You are an awesome staff.read more

Okay, first impression, this staff felt like family! They're very friendly and eager to help. They have a homey, feel-good facility with a staff to match. I feel good knowing Grandpa will be well taken care of. It was hard to make the transition, but I knew it was the best thing for him. So I'm very grateful to find a group of caring people around him! If you're like me and considering a few different options, I highly recommend Valley Farms!read more

Think hard before sending a family member to Symphony. On its face, everything appears lovely. Beautiful building, spacious rooms, fitness area, nice grounds. But once you’re there, you’ll see it’s just a veneer. My mother and I discovered that.Don’t believe the photos Symphony posts on social media. Don’t believe what the executive director or sales people tell you. Get objective info. Talk to the state ombudsman for this facility. You’ll get a better picture of what’s really happening with residents. And unless something drastic has changed since we were there with my mom, I can tell you what’s happening is substandard care.Residents routinely complained of bad food—bad as in it tastes bad, looks bad and is occasionally moldy. The executive director will tell you it’s because the elderly have changed tastes. They do…but the stories they told matched my mother’s experience. No one wants to eat badly prepared food. Workers are nice, but many are poorly trained. Falls are common because staff are not trained. That’s likely due to the nursing director being an LPN instead of an RN. Covid protocols I saw after the prior nursing director left seemed lax, and residents routinely contracted Covid from each other or from new residents and staff who unknowingly came to the facility with Covid. My mother, who weighs about 135-150 pounds, was paying for Level 5 care. Level 5 care means she needed assistance with transfers. In addition, the contract we signed said Symphony did two-person transfers. That’s why we chose Symphony. We discovered it was a bait and switch. Symphony took my mother’s $2000 community fee, dealt with her needs for six months, then “discovered” they couldn’t do two-person transfers. And all of this happened right around the holidays. It ended up being the worst holiday season of my life. My poor mother was miserable because we had to move. They also still owe us monies we paid in January 2022. We and our long term care insurer have repeatedly attempted to get the monies refunded. I am now, after waiting a year, preparing to have the arbitration agreement invalidated for fraud so this matter can go before a court.I say all of this because it’s true—and because our experience with Symphony isn’t unique. Talk to the state ombudsman. We reported what happened and learned we weren’t the first. There are better places to take a loved one than Symphony. Places with better food, better staffing ratios, better trained staff, and nursing directors who are skilled RNs with hospital experience. Places that know how to do a one-person transfer with a resident my mother’s size and don’t tell you they need a hoist. Places that actually have staff trained to use a hoist if one were needed.Bottom line: Don’t be fooled by a pretty exterior and social media. Ask questions. Call the state ombudsman in Frankfort and ask to speak to the person assigned to Symphony. Ask for what residents have reported and how recently. Don’t put your loved one in Symphony unless you have solid proof the executive director and management have changed for the better. You’ll end up paying a premium price for inadequate care.read more

It was a very tough decision to move Mom out of her home. Symphony at Valley Farms is a beautiful, welcoming community. The first person we met there was Brandy. She is a sweet, caring and very compassionate person. She has been so helpful getting Mom established in her new home. Dana, Christine, Alysia, Larry and Faye have also been so understanding, helpful and compassionate. All of the employees that we have met are wonderful, caring individuals. I know we made the right decision for Mom. If you are looking for a welcoming, caring community for your loved one, I highly recommend Symphony at Valley Farms.read more

My mom LOVES it here (she's a "younger" resident here)! I had to move her from the Chicago area, closer to me. Everything from our tour with Brandy to the care and kindness from everyone else has been exceptional. My mom constantly tells me how everyone is so nice here and she never wants to leave. They've done a great job taking care of my mom and are so friendly to me and my family when we go for visits. Moving my mom here was the best choice and I'm so grateful how much she loves living here.read more

We moved my mom to Symphony after she had a fall last summer. She initially went to a rehab facility, but when she was discharged, we knew she couldn’t return home. When we toured Symphony, we were impressed with the facility, but even more than that, we were impressed with the staff. Brandy and all of the staff at Symphony helped make this transition as easy as possible for Mom. They are all so friendly and compassionate. Mom feels very safe and very comfortable, and I have peace and comfort knowing that she is cared for around the clock.read more

When we began talking to Brandy Garcia about mom being a resident there, she was friendly and extremely helpful as we weighed options with mom's needs. Since that initial conversation we've stayed in touch and we've appreciated the interest in Mom's health. When Mom fell in July, going home was not an option, so after a hospital stay she is now a resident at Symphony at Valley Farms. The staff has been courteous and have taken really good care of Mom. She still hopes to go home some day, but in the meantime, we've found a great place for her to recover and be cared for.read more

The food at this facility is disgusting. Our loved one has resorted to buying frozen dinners. Hard dry meats, hard potatoes, 4 tiny vegetables in vegetable soup. Inedible pork. Forget it if you need a prescription. Pharmerica does not deliver on a timely basis and sometimes doesn't even send the correct dosage. Staff leaves constantly, no continuity of care. Residents get attached and then that person leaves for more money. We often pay for services we don't get. Very disappointed in the overall situation at this facility.read more

A family member is in this facility. There have been multiple problems from the beginning. Large staff turnover. Huge issues with getting prescription drugs on a timely basis from Pharmerica. Once waited for 3 days to get an antibiotic. Food left sitting in room. Call bells left unanswered. Services paid for not provided. A credit was offered for that issue. I question all the 5 star reviews as a talk with another family only confirmed these issues. No fresh fruit offered unless you're a fan of mandarin oranges. Try getting your loved one back in facility after being in a hospital. It is nothing but red tape and bureaucracy. For the price paid, things should be better.read more

My sister said it perfectly. We love each and every staff member that give our Mother so much love you care.My mother and our family have been so blessed to have the care and compassion shown by the staff at S@VF!!! Lisa Mullins And Dana Morris have worked so hard to make the isolation bearable for my mom and our family!!Cathy and Lisa at the front desk always make us feel like family when we come to visit. They go above and beyond helping us stay connected to mom. We haven’t been able to see them since all the isolation started but mom tells us how much the Care Givers and nurses have meant to her. Regina is forever checking on her. Jennifer calls me with updates that make me comfortable with mom’s medical issues!! Pat and Dee remain constant support. And if I ever have a concern, I know I can call Connie Shacklette!! She has been the backbone to this facility as long as mom has been there.Theresa is always ready to answer Mom's questions and care for her. There are soooo many people, some have left and many still there. I wish I could name them all. Wonderful facility.read more

My mother has been a resident at Symphony since December of 2017. I cannot say enough about the wonderful “family” at Symphony. I know my Mom is safe and very well cared for. EVERYONE there is pleasant and caring, but some of the people who have truly touched my heart are Teresa, Lisa (activities), Lisa (front desk), Cathy, Regina, Teri, Dee and Rozz. I also recently had the pleasure to meet Cindy (new to the family as Director). She was so sweet and easy to talk to. I must, however, give an extra special shout out to Connie. She is truly one of the kindest people I have ever met. She is always bright and bubbly. She certainly helped ease my heart and soul while coming to grips with the reality of having to transition Mom into assisted living.read more

I am a resident at Symphony at Valley Farms, it is a great place to stay especially when you are unable to do many things for yourself, and you recently lost your husband and sold your home, I was really upset with things, but the staff here talked to me and really helped me to start down this part of my life. My aide was Regina, and she took and takes great care of me, she taught me how to do a lot of things for myself. Lisa Mullins the activity director keeps us busy and she comes to my room and talks to me, along with Dana the Memory Care Director so we won't be lonely. Patricia one of the nurses are on call all the time to check on your needs. Rusty and Scotty take care of all the mechanical needs, Lisa and Kathy at the front desk keep up with us and our incoming calls, Connie always has a good word for you, David keeps our food to our wishes, I have so many friends now I can not be lonely. They treat my family as if they were part of our family. I have so many people that are friends I could fill book, but the top person is Lisa Mullins and Regina Davidson my caregiver, these are the people that make my last days special on my way to God.read more

I have nothing but good things to say about this place and all the staff members I have been in contact with. I wasnt sure my mamaw was ready to go into a facility but all the staff had made it a very smooth transition for my mamaw. My mamaw is my world and one of the best things is that the staff stay in constant contact with me about how mamaw is doing and when I spend time with my mamaw she always talks about how nice everyone is there.
